Most household webcams aren’t safe. Hackers can hack them in a blink of an eye and put the footage online. To address this problem the French security company Uppersafe came up with a pretty scary experiment. They spent a week secretly monitoring webcams on publicly available websites. They noted the habits of unsuspecting homeowners and tracked their IP addresses to find out where they lived. After that Uppersafe sent a personalized gift that was based on the footage they saw on the hacked cams.
