Mercedes-Benz has come up with a powerful way to promote its self-driving technology. Most South African’s will remember the famous and Gold Lion winning commercial from 1990 that featured Christopher White, a man who crashed down the side of a cliff near Cape Town. Launching the S-Class range of Intelligent Drive vehicles the company has taken White back to Chapman’s Peak. It’s the same treacherous road, and the same driver behind the wheel – but the twist is, it’s in an autonomous driving car. The result is a dramatic and memorable documentary-style content piece.
