On November 22, 1963, on his way to deliver a speech in Dallas, US president John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Fifty-five years later, using the latest technology, The Times made it possible for us to hear the words he never spoke. For JFK Unsilenced campaign – that’s built around the promise of bringing new perspectives to the news – the media organization teamed up with creative agency Rothco and tech company Cereproc to create an AI-audio version of the Dallas Trade Mart speech. Using an existing copy of the speech they rebuild Mr Kennedy’s voice by analysing hundreds of previous orations.
